On October 18, 2024, Dr. Yoichiro Matsumoto, advisor to the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Technology, visited the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics (CIIRC) at CTU. Dr. Matsumoto’s visit, part of a European tour aimed at exploring scientific cooperation opportunities, underscores the growing significance of the Czech Republic in global research.
During the visit, Dr. Matsumoto, along with other representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic, met with Dr. Ondřej Velka, Director of CIIRC ČVUT, and Dr. Josef Šivic, ELLIS Fellow and Unit Director at CIIRC CTU. Discussions focused on collaboration in artificial intelligence, technology for sustainable development, and the role of scientific diplomacy in shaping national strategies. The delegation also visited the RICAIP Testbed in Prague, where advanced robotics demonstrations in industrial manufacturing, featuring AI and additive technologies, were showcased.
