ELLIS Fellow Josef Urban Receives Prestigious GA ČR Grants for Groundbreaking Research

Josef Urban, ELLIS Fellow and a leading researcher at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics (CIIRC), has received the prestigious EXPRO Grant for his project NextReason: A New Generation of Computational Reasoning. This project aims to develop advanced computational reasoning methods that could transform our understanding of automated logic and deduction, with applications in AI, formal verification, and decision systems.

Alongside him, Milan Němý, also from CIIRC CTU, was awarded the JUNIOR STAR Grant for his research on Quantitative Structural and Functional Imaging of the Human Cholinergic System. This project focuses on the cholinergic system, crucial for cognitive functions, and its role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

Both grants are among the most prestigious in the Czech Republic, offering significant financial support to enable groundbreaking research. Urban’s project will explore advanced computational techniques, while Němý’s research aims to provide new insights into cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases.
